For the last eleven years, the CGC has hosted a graduate communications conference in Ottawa that attracts graduate students from all over the country. The theme of the conference varies year to year to accommodate a variety of topics related to the field of communications. It is held on the first Thursday and Friday of March each year in the River Building at Carleton University. Presenters can enter to win an annual student paper prize from the Canadian Journal of Communications , to enter the full paper must be submitted before the prize deadline. Each year the annual Attallah lecture takes place at our conference. Previous speakers have included among others: Dr. John Durhan Peters, Dr. Jack Halberstam and Dr. Kate Crawford.
The CGC conference is a collegial and supportive environment for graduate students that provides a platform for excellence and scholarship in the field of Communications and Media Studies.
